A strong foundation of healing

“Imagine yourself traveling on a ship across the ocean 400 years ago. The voyage has been long and treacherous, the waves have endlessly tossed you about, and the storm is daunting. And then you see it – a single tree on a hill.” That’s how Alison Alioto, the BA’s Christian Science Nursing Administrator, begins her […]

“Imagine yourself traveling on a ship across the ocean 400 years ago. The voyage has been long and treacherous, the waves have endlessly tossed you about, and the storm is daunting. And then you see it – a single tree on a hill.” That’s how Alison Alioto, the BA’s Christian Science Nursing Administrator, begins her inspiring account of the BA’s origins. Listen to her describe the significance of Mrs. Eddy’s request for a sanatorium – a refuge for healing — and how the provision for the BA unfolded from there.

This is the perfect time of year share the thanks we’ve received for the inspiring weekend in September:

“A note of gratitude to you and the whole BA staff for the International Christian Science Nursing Day activities. The morning session was full of clear, substantial ideas about the strength and necessity of Christian Science nursing After the lovely lunch, the afternoon session provided a wonderful window in to the teaching and practice of Christian Science nursing. And to end with smoothies and hymns – what a blessing!”

“A very BIG thank you to all who made today’s Christian Science Nursing Workshop — such a wonderfully informative, interesting and joyful occasion – I certainly learned a lot!”

“What a wonderful feast of ideas you gave us! Thank you so much for the program in celebration of Christian Science Nursing. It so clearly expressed the nurse qualities and By-law (Christian Science Nurse) our Leader gave us to bless the world. I am sure seeds were planted that will bear much fruit in days and years to come.”

“I came away with a renewed appreciation for how Christian Science Nursing Arts requires individuals to start from the scientific, spiritual basis before taking any action. I think the white board exercise, simplified for the occasion, worked so well to reinforce the art of Christian Science nursing — indispensable qualities of thought that bring out care ideas appropriate for individual situations. I’m glad we were reminded that the Manual By-law requires taking proper care of the sick, rather than sickness. If I recall correctly, that was brought out in answering one of many thoughtful questions. In the afternoon I was interested to see the demonstration of assisting someone out of bed. Thank you for the variety of topics during the day, always presented from an inspired and practical standpoint.”

“Terrific Saturday! I am so grateful to have been allowed to attend. With deep appreciation!”
